Verte is ROI's most personal song yet. In Verte, ROI keeps his signature catchy lyrics and melodies but couples them with emotional instrumentation such as orchestral strings, mellow waves of synths, and a reggaeton beat that drives this nostalgic ballad. Verte is true-to-life for ROI, but it's a story with elements most people can relate to. "Qué ironía", the song's opening line, is a bite-sized peek into the frustration of being in a relationship that has to be kept in secret.

"Verte" shares the emotions of having feelings for someone but having to witness someone else "own that piece of art". ROI sings to his lover that he "spends his days as a madman looking for her" and how ironic it is that they "only greet each other at night and say goodbye when the sun rises". At the end of the day, he knows that they will "keep pretending to be friends", even though he feels "it's killing [him]" more and more every day.
