about
After a long, cold winter of isolation, we met up in the early spring. We were at Sophie's flat and Amy spotted a lovely bright bird on the branches of the oak tree outside. It was really comforting to be in its company as we watched it through the window. We were singing about the bird as we walked to our shed to play, and Kookaburra came out along the way. It is a song about coming through loneliness and finding hope.
lyrics
Hey you, why you looking so low?
There’s a whole world outside your window
And you say, what about me?
Well I can watch the world outside my window
There’s a whole world outside my window
A whole world outside my window
My window, my window
There’s a whole world outside my window
And I can watch the kookaburra
There’s a hope for me, and a home for me
(I can watch the kookaburra)
The kookaburra and me
That’s where I’ll be
(I can watch the kookaburra) (x2)
There’s a home for me, and a hope for me
(I can watch the kookaburra)
There’s a home for me, and a hope for me
(I can watch the kookaburra) (x2)
(Kookaburra, kookaburra, kookaburra, kookaburra)
Hey you, why you looking so low?
There’s a whole world outside your window
And you say, what about me?
Well I can watch the world outside my window
There’s a hope for me, and a home for me
(My window, my window, I can watch the world outside my window)
The kookaburra and me
That’s where I’ll be (x2)
There’s a home for me, and a hope for me
There’s a home for me, and a hope for me
(I can watch the kookaburra)
There’s a home for me, and a hope for me
(I can watch the kookaburra)
There’s a home for me, and a hope for me
Oh no you don’t have to be alone now
Oh no you don’t have to be alone now
Oh no you don’t have to be alone now
Oh no you don’t have to be alone now, be alone now, be alone now, be alone now (x2)

This is the first in a series of weekly album reviews published by Andrew Dubber. If you haven’t already caught it, please check out his introductory post. There’s been talk of an 80s revival of one sort or another since long before the 80s even came to an end.
