Diana Check The Weather is the debut single by London based singer and
multi-instrumentalist Gary Lover, due for release via cult label Some
Other Planet records on 12 th August 2020. Diana Check The Weather is
taken from the debut Gary Lover album Songs of Fortune, Songs of Pain
due in Autumn 2020. Gary Lover is the alter ego of Gareth Hoskins,
singer with London band Tangerines. Diana Check The Weather is
released with a suitably eccentric video made by Gareth during lockdown.
Based around a tight ear-worm guitar melody and a laconic, Lou Reed
style delivery, Diana Check The Weather evokes 80s Matchbox style
surrealist post-Rockabilly with the video having been made as a means of
making the most of time at home whilst getting cabin fever with it, as
Gareth says “I'm sure everyone’s been going a little crazy whilst having
been confined to their houses so, for the Diana video, for me to be trying
on wigs and dancing around in my bedroom it seemed like the right thing
to be doing”. Diana Check The Weather is a prime taster for the mélange
of styles and influences that Gareth channels across his forthcoming
debut album, Songs of Fortune, Songs of Pain. Diana Check The Weather
was performed, recorded, produced and mixed by Gareth during his
sessions for the album between 2017-2019.
